Food Safari Safety Policy
This Safety Policy offers practical guidance for real-world dinners. It does not replace emergency services, medical advice, venue rules, or applicable law.
1. Introduction
Food Safari brings people together in real life. That is the value of the platform and also the reason thoughtful safety decisions matter.
Food Safari is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, feel threatened, or require urgent medical or police assistance, contact local emergency services first.
2. What Food Safari Does and Does Not Verify
Unless Food Safari expressly states otherwise for a particular feature, Food Safari does not conduct criminal-background checks, inspect users’ homes, verify professional qualifications, or independently confirm every user’s identity, statements, food practices, affiliation, or dinner details. Phone, email, or other technical verification does not guarantee a person’s identity, intentions, reliability, or safety. Food Safari does not inspect restaurants or homes, verify ingredients or allergens, certify hosts, or guarantee that access-code users belong to a particular company, conference, or organization.
3. Dinner Formats and Companion Requirements
Some Food Safari dinner formats require hosts and guests to participate with a companion, while other formats may allow individuals to join. The applicable requirement will be displayed in the dinner details. Users must comply with the participation format shown for that dinner.
Do not bring unapproved people. Tell the host promptly if a required companion cancels or changes.
4. Before You Join
Review all available dinner details carefully, including:
- Dinner type and general location
- Topic, language, and participation format
- Companion requirement
- Host and guest expectations
- Payment preference or suggested contribution
- Restaurant menu, pricing, taxes, service charges, and dietary suitability
- Alcohol, pets, smoking, accessibility, and house rules
Only join if you are comfortable with the available information. Ask questions inside Food Safari before attending.
5. Plan Your Arrival and Exit
- Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to return
- Arrange independent transportation and keep enough battery and funds to leave
- Do not rely on a host or unfamiliar guest for your return journey
- Do not ride with a driver who appears impaired
- If the actual location materially differs from the approved listing, pause and verify before entering
- Trust your judgment and leave if the situation feels unsafe or significantly different from what was described
6. Home Dinner Safety for Guests
- The exact home address and exact time are visible only to approved guests
- Do not share the address, private link, access code, or instructions
- Do not bring unapproved people
- Tell a trusted person the address and expected return time
- Keep your phone charged and maintain control of your transportation
- Respect private rooms, house rules, property, pets, and boundaries
- Leave promptly if you feel unsafe, pressured, or unable to exit freely
7. Home Dinner Safety for Hosts
- Use only a location you are permitted to use
- Follow applicable food-service, building, lease, condominium, homeowners’ association, occupancy, fire-safety, alcohol, permit, and tax requirements
- Secure valuables, identification documents, medication, keys, private mail, and sensitive personal information
- Limit guest access to appropriate areas and keep exits clear
- Disclose pets, smoking, major accessibility limitations, known allergens, and relevant house rules
- Do not admit unapproved people
- Consider telling a trusted person that you are hosting
- Set a clear ending time and contact emergency services rather than physically escalating a conflict
8. Restaurant and Other Public-Venue Safety
- Confirm the venue, menu, prices, travel time, and accessibility yourself
- Follow venue rules and treat staff respectfully
- Clarify the disclosed payment preference before ordering
- Do not pressure another person about what they order, eat, drink, or pay
- Keep control of your transport, belongings, and personal information
Food Safari is not responsible for restaurant service, prices, menu accuracy, availability, food safety, accessibility, or venue conduct.
9. Food, Allergies, and Dietary Safety
Food Safari does not verify ingredients, menus, cross-contamination risks, kitchens, food preparation, or allergen information.
If you have an allergy, medical dietary requirement, or serious restriction:
- Ask the host and restaurant clear questions before attending
- Speak directly with restaurant staff where applicable
- Do not rely solely on a dinner description or another user’s statement
- Avoid consuming food when you are uncertain
- Carry any medication or emergency supplies prescribed for you
Hosts should share known information honestly but are not medical professionals and should not guarantee that a meal is allergen-free unless they are qualified and can substantiate that claim.
10. Alcohol and Substance Safety
- Hosts must not provide alcohol unlawfully
- Users must meet the legal drinking age applicable to the location
- No one may pressure another person to drink
- Monitor your own consumption and do not leave drinks unattended
- Do not accept opened drinks from someone you do not trust
- Do not drive or travel with an impaired driver
- Illegal drug activity and unsafe substance use should be reported
Food Safari does not sell, serve, control, or verify alcohol unless a future feature expressly states otherwise.
11. Personal Information, Messaging, and Digital Safety
Users should use Food Safari messaging whenever necessary.
Hosts can use the messaging feature to contact guests before and after a dinner. Guests can use the messaging feature to contact other guests only after they have attended a dinner together.
No user may pressure another person to provide a phone number, email address, social-media account, home address, financial information, or other personal information. Users may voluntarily exchange contact details when they are comfortable doing so.
- Do not share passwords, banking information, card details, security answers, or one-time verification codes
- Do not send deposits through unofficial links or transfer money for unrelated loans, investments, or emergencies
- Block and report repeated unwanted contact
- Do not move communication off-platform because another user pressures you to do so
12. Child Safety and Protection
Food Safari maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse, exploitation, grooming, predatory behavior, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSAE).
Users may not create, upload, request, solicit, distribute, share, promote, or store CSAM, CSAE, or any content or communication that sexualizes, exploits, endangers, or facilitates inappropriate contact with a minor.
Users can report inappropriate profiles, messages, dinners, content, or behavior directly within Food Safari by selecting the Report option available on the relevant profile, dinner, or message. Child-safety reports are treated as urgent and reviewed as quickly as reasonably possible.
Food Safari may use user reports, automated detection tools, keyword or image filtering, and manual review to identify potential violations.
- Immediately suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these standards
- Remove or restrict access to prohibited content
- Prevent the creation of additional accounts and, where appropriate, block associated devices or IP addresses
- Preserve relevant information when required for an investigation or legal report
Food Safari complies with applicable regional, national, and international child-safety laws. Suspected or confirmed CSAM, CSAE, grooming, or child exploitation may be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), relevant law-enforcement agencies, and other appropriate child-protection authorities.
Users, law-enforcement agencies, and child-protection organizations may contact Food Safari regarding child-safety concerns at mihai@joinfoodsafari.app.
13. Photography and Recording
- Ask before photographing, recording, or livestreaming another person
- Do not assume attendance equals consent to public or promotional use
- Do not publish another person’s image, voice, private message, address, or dinner details without permission
- Report covert, intimate, exploitative, or threatening recording immediately
14. Personal Boundaries and Sexual Safety
- Respect personal space, physical boundaries, and verbal and non-verbal refusals
- Do not make unwanted romantic or sexual advances
- Do not follow, isolate, corner, touch, or pressure another person
- A person’s friendliness, clothing, alcohol consumption, or prior communication is not consent
- Leave and seek help if you feel threatened or unable to exit safely
After reaching safety, preserve relevant messages or details and report the account or dinner. Consider contacting local authorities, medical services, or an appropriate support organization when needed.
15. During the Dinner
- Be respectful and listen as much as you speak
- Respect cultural, religious, political, professional, dietary, and personal differences
- Do not pressure people financially, romantically, sexually, politically, religiously, or professionally
- Keep your drink, belongings, phone, keys, identification, and medication in sight
- Do not knowingly create unsafe conditions or obstruct another person from leaving
- Leave if you feel unsafe or significantly uncomfortable
16. Illness, Hygiene, and Physical Safety
- Do not attend or host when you knowingly have a highly contagious illness and attendance would create a meaningful risk
- Do not knowingly serve unsafe, contaminated, or materially misrepresented food
- Hosts should keep exits accessible and dangerous equipment, chemicals, weapons, medication, and private items secured
- Follow applicable public-health, food-safety, fire-safety, occupancy, and venue requirements
17. Scams and Financial Safety
- Do not transfer money to reserve a dinner through an unofficial process
- Do not share bank credentials, card information, passwords, or verification codes
- Do not participate in unexpected investment, cryptocurrency, loan, fundraising, or business schemes
- Clarify any payment materially different from the disclosed dinner arrangement before paying
- Report hidden charges, fraudulent contributions, coercive fundraising, or financial pressure
18. After the Dinner
- Continue communication only with people you choose
- Block and report unwanted follow-up
- Avoid quickly sharing your home address, workplace, financial information, daily routine, or travel plans
- Write reviews factually and do not reveal private information
- Report safety incidents promptly while details and evidence are available
19. Reporting and Blocking
Report users, profiles, dinners, messages, photographs, reviews, or real-world behavior that is unsafe, misleading, abusive, discriminatory, fraudulent, illegal, or otherwise prohibited.
Use Food Safari’s in-app report and block tools where available. Attempting to evade a block through another account, companion, dinner, or communication channel is prohibited.
Reports should be truthful and include relevant details. Food Safari may request screenshots or other information, contact the reporter, preserve relevant records, and review messages, content, dinner activity, account history, and reports.
Food Safari may not be able to disclose every action taken or confidential information about another user.
20. Emergencies
Food Safari is not an emergency service.
If you are in immediate danger, feel threatened, experience a medical emergency, or need urgent assistance:
- Leave or move to a safer public or secure location when possible.
- Contact local emergency services.
- Contact a trusted person.
- After you are safe, report the incident to Food Safari.
21. Shared Responsibility
Food Safari can provide rules, messaging, reporting, blocking, moderation, and restricted-detail tools, but no platform can eliminate all risk.
Users remain responsible for thoughtful decisions before, during, and after real-world interactions. Trust your judgment. If something feels wrong, leave.
