Food Safari Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Guidelines explain the behavior and content expected from everyone using Food Safari.

1. Introduction

Food Safari exists to help people meet around food with curiosity, kindness, honesty, and respect.

By using Food Safari, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines as well as our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Safety Policy.

2. The Spirit of Food Safari

Food Safari is for real-life social dining, food, culture, conversation, and human connection.

Do not use Food Safari as:

  • A spam channel, sales funnel, investment pitch, recruitment trap, or pyramid scheme
  • A way to pressure people romantically, sexually, financially, politically, religiously, or professionally
  • A place to mislead, exploit, intimidate, or discriminate against others

Adults may form friendships or relationships naturally, but unwanted advances, repeated contact, sexual messages, coercion, or conduct that makes another person feel unsafe is prohibited.

3. Respect Other People

Treat hosts, guests, companions, venue staff, and other community members with respect.

Do not:

  • Harass, threaten, bully, stalk, shame, humiliate, or intimidate
  • Use hateful, degrading, or discriminatory language
  • Make unwanted sexual comments or advances
  • Pressure another person to drink, eat, pay, disclose information, or participate in anything
  • Retaliate against someone for declining, cancelling, blocking, reporting, or leaving

Respect differences in nationality, culture, race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, language, food preferences, dietary practices, and lifestyle.

4. Be Honest

  • Use accurate profile information and recent, representative photographs
  • Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your age, identity, affiliation, intentions, or location
  • Do not create fake dinners or misleading listings
  • Do not hide important information about the dinner’s purpose, contribution, language, food, venue, accessibility, guest requirements, or expectations
  • Do not falsely claim that Food Safari, a venue, company, conference, or organization endorses or verifies you

5. Dinner Formats and Companions

Some Food Safari dinner formats require hosts and guests to participate with a companion, while other formats may allow individuals to join. The applicable requirement will be displayed in the dinner details. Users must comply with the participation format shown for that dinner.

Do not bring unapproved people, substitute another companion without updating the dinner information where required, or falsely represent another person’s agreement to attend.

6. Host Guidelines

Hosts should:

  • Create clear, accurate, and complete dinner descriptions
  • Choose the correct dinner type and participation format
  • Disclose the language, topic, contribution, alcohol, pets, smoking, accessibility, and relevant house rules
  • Protect guest privacy and restricted dinner details
  • Notify approved guests promptly if plans materially change
  • Treat approval and removal decisions fairly and without unlawful discrimination
  • Provide a respectful and reasonably safe environment
  • Follow applicable laws and venue, building, food, alcohol, fire-safety, occupancy, and permit requirements

Hosts must not use a dinner to promote scams, unrelated products, recruitment schemes, commercial sexual services, coercive religious or political activity, financial investments, or undisclosed commercial activity.

7. Guest Guidelines

Guests should:

  • Read all available dinner details before requesting to join
  • Join only when comfortable with the format, topic, language, venue type, companion requirement, and disclosed payment preference
  • Arrive on time and cancel as early as reasonably possible
  • Tell the host promptly if a required companion cancels
  • Respect the host’s home, the venue, staff, other guests, and dinner rules
  • Not bring unapproved people or share restricted details
  • Leave a factual and respectful review when choosing to review

Food Safari may consider repeated verified no-shows, late cancellations, policy violations, substantiated reports, and relevant account history when determining appropriate enforcement action. A single negative review does not automatically result in an account restriction.

8. Messaging and Contact Information

Users should use Food Safari messaging whenever necessary.

Hosts can use the messaging feature to contact guests before and after a dinner. Guests can use the messaging feature to contact other guests only after they have attended a dinner together.

No user may pressure another person to provide a phone number, email address, social-media account, home address, financial information, or other personal information. Users may voluntarily exchange contact details when they are comfortable doing so.

Messages must remain respectful, relevant, and free from harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual content, spam, scams, aggressive sales pitches, financial requests unrelated to the dinner, or repeated unwanted contact.

9. Privacy and Restricted Information

Do not disclose another user’s personal or private information without permission, including:

  • Phone numbers, email addresses, workplaces, travel routines, or financial information
  • Home addresses, exact dinner times, private links, access codes, and instructions
  • Private messages, screenshots, social-media profiles, or photographs
  • Information about reports, health, allergies, or personal circumstances

Home addresses and restricted dinner information may be used only for legitimate participation in the approved dinner.

10. Food and Dietary Respect

Do not shame, ridicule, pressure, or mislead anyone regarding food choices, allergies, dietary restrictions, religious practices, alcohol choices, cultural preferences, or medical needs.

Hosts should describe known food information honestly. Guests remain responsible for determining whether food is safe or suitable for them.

11. Alcohol and Substances

  • Hosts must not provide alcohol unlawfully
  • Users must meet the legal drinking age applicable to the location
  • No one may pressure another person to drink
  • Do not encourage excessive consumption or unsafe transportation
  • Illegal drug activity and dangerous substance use are prohibited

12. Photography, Recording, and Public Sharing

  • Ask permission before photographing, recording, or livestreaming another person
  • Do not publish an identifiable person’s image, voice, private messages, or dinner details without permission
  • Hosts must disclose planned official photography or promotional recording before approval
  • Attending a dinner does not automatically mean consenting to promotional use
  • Covert or intimate recording and non-consensual intimate imagery are prohibited

13. Financial Safety and Commercial Conduct

Do not use Food Safari to request loans, banking information, card information, passwords, verification codes, investments, cryptocurrency transfers, or deposits through unofficial links.

Disclosed meal contributions and restaurant-payment preferences are allowed, but hidden charges, financial pressure, fake reimbursement requests, scams, unrelated sales, and pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes are prohibited.

14. Violence, Weapons, and Dangerous Conduct

Violence, credible threats, intimidation, fighting, dangerous conduct, and the misuse or threatening display of weapons are prohibited.

Do not knowingly create unsafe conditions, obstruct exits, serve contaminated food, or encourage conduct likely to cause injury.

15. Sexual Misconduct and Exploitation

Food Safari prohibits sexual harassment, unwanted sexual content, grooming, sexual exploitation, commercial sexual activity, coercion, non-consensual intimate imagery, and any sexual content or conduct involving a minor.

A person’s attendance, friendliness, clothing, alcohol consumption, or prior communication never constitutes consent.

16. Reviews

Reviews must be honest, useful, respectful, and based on real interactions.

Do not use reviews for revenge, blackmail, threats, discrimination, personal attacks, knowingly false allegations, or disclosure of private information.

Food Safari may remove reviews that violate these Guidelines and may provide a way to report or contest abusive reviews.

17. Reporting and Blocking

Users may report profiles, dinners, messages, photographs, reviews, and real-world behavior that is unsafe, misleading, abusive, discriminatory, illegal, or otherwise prohibited.

Users may block people they do not wish to interact with. Attempting to evade a block through another account, companion, dinner, phone number, or communication channel is prohibited.

Reports must be truthful. False, malicious, or retaliatory reporting is itself a violation.

In immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Food Safari is not an emergency service.

18. Moderation and Enforcement

Food Safari may use automated tools and human review to filter, detect, investigate, restrict, or remove objectionable content or conduct.

Depending on the circumstances, Food Safari may:

  • Issue a warning
  • Remove or limit content, reviews, messages, or dinner listings
  • Limit profile or dinner visibility
  • Restrict messaging, joining, hosting, or other features
  • Suspend or permanently remove an account
  • Preserve relevant information or report serious matters where required by law

We may consider severity, repetition, credible evidence, immediate risk, account history, intent where relevant, and cooperation with an investigation.

Where appropriate, users may request review of a significant enforcement action. Food Safari may be unable to disclose confidential evidence, another user’s identity, or every action taken.

19. Final Rule

Be the kind of person people are happy they sat next to.

Food Safari works when people show up with honesty, curiosity, respect, good judgment, and appetite.
